Podcast Episode #57: "Women Helping Women: The Importance of Intentional Networking" - an Interview with Megan Bozzuto

Women Helping Women: The Importance of Intentional Networking

Whether you are currently in your dream job or looking for something new, you won't want to miss these strategies to help yourself, your colleagues and friends to make the meaningful progress in their career. Relationships are everything, especially when it comes to building trust, credibility, expertise and opportunities, so I was super excited to have this conversation with International Association of Women (IAW) Vice President of Marketing and Membership Experience, Megan Bozzuto.

Regardless if you are climbing in your current role or looking for something new, here are 4 key strategies from our interview to help you to be intentional when networking:

  1. Network with others who will believe in you and push you to get uncomfortable.
  2. Ask: What is the end result I want, and what relationships do I need to build to get there?
  3. Give before you receive.
  4. Build or sharpen the necessary skills along the way.

Want to Put Groundhog Day to Rest?

Want to Put Groundhog Day to Rest?

If days, weeks and even months feel blurred, and overwhelm is a constant companion, you are most certainly not alone. Groundhog Day is an uncomfortable and unsustainable (yet common!) place to be, and it’s not where creativity, productivity, innovative ability or joy live.

Here are a couple things you can do RIGHT NOW to help go from feeling like you're "spinning", depleted and not in control... to feeling grounded, calm, and on purpose.

Watch My Video with the Tools to Put Groundhog Day to Rest.

It’s the perfect time to take a little control back. With all that has transpired over the past few months, including the loss of one of the most courageous female leaders and champions of equality, it’s never been a better time to make a 1-degree shift that could create big change for ourselves and for others.

You see, most of those who have accomplished great feats in history have done so in the pursuit of the impossible. So, if something large or small...

3 Steps to Courageous Allyship

3 Steps to Courageous Allyship

This article was originally posted on:

Often times growth, progress and change require risk.

When an Olympic hopeful in equestrian show-jumping decides to play all out, she may decide to cut inside a jump to shave off precious time from the clock rather than choose a safer route to allow more time to get her horse balanced and straight.

If she plays all out, she takes a big risk.

Her horse may not be as able to clear the fence therefore taking down a rail and incur 4 or more faults. This would likely knock her out of qualifying for the Olympic team.

Growing and progressing in her sport will require her to take these types of risks.

The reward? Clearing the jump and proving that her sex, age and experience are good enough to contribute to the Olympic team, therefore creating a ripple effect, inspiring other young riders to work hard and take strategic chances as well.

Being a courageous ally requires risk as well.

Based on the thousands of w...

YOUR Voice Matters (a Lot!)

First and foremost, how are you doing? We are a community of world-class doers and change agents, but we are also human. Send me an email (I respond to all my emails myself:). Drop me a line, and let me know or just write it down in a journal. If nothing else, it will be a cathartic check-in with yourself. Be honest. No judgement. From here, we can move forward, together.

Whether you are feeling on your A-Game right now or feeling defeated, depleted and down, I’d like you to think about who needs you to step up right now. A Note to Our Mental Toughness Community

A Note to Our Mental Toughness Community

It is my sincere hope that this finds you, your colleagues and family well and safe. The last two weeks have been unimaginable and horrific combined with hope. Hope that there are many allies standing in solidarity with #blacklivesmatter and hope that there is a new and better commitment to equality.

Emotions are running high and for good reason, but the march for equality must go forward, so must we if we are able. For some who have been affected personally, whose family or colleagues have been directly affected, it may not be possible now. If that is you, please accept my heartfelt prayers for healing and strength. I don’t understand completely nor will I ever, but I am committed to educating myself and my community, so we can be allies for change.

I have deep gratitude for this community of heart-centered and ambitious leaders. Your voice and vision is needed now more than ever, and I believe in our ability to affect real change.

Strategic Communications for Women in Business

I am so excited and honored to have interviewed Nathalie Gauthier. She is an Assistant Vice President, Global Markets Technology-Proj Mgmt Office for State Street, a leading financial services firm out of Boston. Nathalie shares her tools and tips in strategic communications.

SO GOOD! Here Are a Couple of the Main Take-Aways:

  1. Take ownership... ask what is my place in this and how can I improve?
  2. Practice in a 'warm' environment... prior to a high stakes conversation, practice with family or peers.
  3. 'Warm' the room... reach out to those you will communicate with prior to meeting and run your ideas by them, allow them to 'poke holes' and also understand their perspective.
  4. Be bold and brief... ask #WWWD/S (what would a white man do/say)

If you'd like to become part of my community and receive resources on Mental Toughness and High Performance, you can do that here, www.SherylKline.com. Also, be sure to connect with Nathalie here on...

Secrets to Avoid Getting Stuck (Get Ready to Make a Shift!)

I hope you, your loved ones and colleagues are all staying healthy!

Did you know that it will take 2-4 weeks for pipelines to fill up once we start driving and flying around more, and the demand for gasoline starts to rise? This was surprising to me when I heard last week from an industry expert.

Just like we don’t want to be stuck in our driveway with an empty tank when everyone else is starting their Summer, we don’t want to be stuck in comfort/survival mode when others are prepared for the next level of normal.

For some, the last 8 weeks has been absolutely devastating and for others it’s been an almost welcome disruption to a pace of life that was not sustainable. Maybe it’s been somewhere in between. Safe to say for most, it’s been challenging in one way or another, and I honor YOU for doing your best.

There is still a lot of uncertainty, but here’s WHAT WE DO KNOW…

This is a fluid situation that is moving towards ...
